Privacy policy
Deakin Dashboard is a small private tool for one household. This page explains what it does with your information. Last updated 29 September 2026.
Who runs this
Deakin Dashboard at deakin.co.za is run by Tyron Deakin for personal household use. Questions about this policy go to tyron@thecreativecafe.co.za.
What information the dashboard handles
- The shared Deakin Google Calendar. The calendar is shared with a service account that belongs to the dashboard, with permission to make changes to events. The dashboard server reads events on that one calendar and creates, changes and deletes events on it when a family member asks it to. This includes event titles, times, locations, notes and reminders.
- Household lists. The shopping list, to-do list, "days since" counters and the shared note that family members type into the dashboard.
- An access key. The dashboard is opened with a private link. The first time, the link stores a secret access key in the browser on that device so the dashboard can prove it is allowed to load the household information. It is not linked to a name or account.
The dashboard does not ask visitors to sign in with Google and does not access anyone's personal Google account, Gmail, Drive or contacts.
How the information is used
Only to show the calendar and household lists on the dashboard and to carry out the changes a family member makes there. It is not used for advertising, analytics, profiling or training any model. It is not sold, rented or shared with anyone.
Where the information lives
Household lists are stored in a private file on the hosting account for deakin.co.za, which is not publicly reachable. Calendar events stay in Google Calendar and are fetched fresh when the dashboard loads. The dashboard also keeps a copy of the lists in the browser so it opens quickly and works briefly offline.
The page loads its typeface from Google Fonts. That request is handled by Google under its own policies.
Google API Services User Data Policy
The dashboard's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Removing access and deleting data
- To stop the dashboard reaching the calendar, remove the service account from the calendar's sharing settings in Google Calendar.
- To delete the household lists, ask the site owner using the email above and they will delete the stored file. Clear this site's data in the browser on each device to remove the local copy and the access key.
- Calendar events themselves live in Google Calendar and are managed there.
Children
The dashboard is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.
